About Me

A Dawn Light
Most of the poems on this site express a yearning for the dawn of a new era, though some were not initially motivated with that intention. Rather they began with a desire to describe a singular aspect of a day or season, or in a few rare instances by the rush of an emotion swiftly followed by the flashing in of the first line of the poem. Then somewhere in the process of writing, the question came: where was the poem going? what did it want to say? The answer was that the whole poem could be turned ino a metaphor for the sighting of a new world. Put another way, my conscious life where I learn and think about redemption found its way into the deeper vein of my desire for self-expression. This process is described by the Lubavitcher Rebbe - that we are motivated by the need for self-realization as well as by the desire to serve a goal higher than ourselves. In the future both these drives will become one. The photographs accompanying the poems are the work of a friend whose art photography can be seen on her blog "Simple Photography" www.islandsofpeace.blogspot.com. We hope you enjoy our creative endeavor and look forward with you "to a brand new world".
